WASHINGTON, DC – As part of National Agriculture Week, today Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) introduced the Dairy Pricing Opportunity Act of 2023 ensuring that dairy farmers have the ability to price their products to reflect today’s market environment. This bipartisan bill will help bring transparency and modernize the Federal Milk Marketing Order (FMMO) system so our farmers have confidence in their product pricing that are reflective of today’s standards.
“Mark February 22, 2023 as the day New York’s family farms were put on life support thanks to this asinine regulation. As I have said from day one, lowering the overtime threshold from 60 to 40 hours is going to be the final straw for countless multi-generational New York farms who are already barely making ends meet. Our state has been co-opted by New York City interests who know nothing about farm operations and all New Yorkers are going to bear the consequences of this unconscionable decision to decimate an industry we rely on to survive.
