Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) issued the following statement after the passage of his amendment to H.R. 3935, Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act, that would maintain the current 1,500-hour in-air pilot training rule. This amendment was co-sponsored by Reps. Brian Higgins (NY-26), and Claudia Tenney (NY-24). The amendment passed the House in a bipartisan vote of 241-191.

“Today is a remarkable day for public safety as the House passed our crucial amendment, prioritizing the best training for commercial airline pilots to ensure the safety of our skies and passengers,” said Rep. Langworthy. “I’m grateful for the support of Reps. Higgins, Tenney, and all my colleagues who stood behind the 1500 hour rule. More importantly, I’m proud to honor the memory of those lost in the Flight 3407 tragedy and their families.”
