Congressman Nick Langworthy Proudly Announces $218,000 in Federal Assistance for Fire Departments in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) announced $218,844 in federal moneys headed to 3 fire departments in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties through the FEMA AFG Grant Program. Congressman Langworthy was proud to support the funding of this important program and has long been a vocal advocate in favor of federal investment in our local first responders. In June this year, Congressman Langworthy hosted FEMA AFT for a virtual grant writing seminar to make applying easier for our local departments.

 

“Our firefighters are true heroes, and I am proud to announce that $218,844 is on its way to upgrade the safety equipment and technology that keeps our communities safe,” said Congressman Nick Langworthy. “This direct federal investment will give our firefighters critical equipment upgrades including turn out gear, air packs, or other critical equipment that means the world in the heat of crisis. When our firefighters answer the call, I want them to have the support they deserve to do the job safely. As I meet with firefighters across the district, I hear repeatedly how important congressional support for this is, and I am proud to be a loud advocate.”

 

According to FEMA, the primary goal of these grants is to enhance the safety and effectiveness of first responders while also improving their ability to respond to emergencies and disasters. They aim to address the evolving needs of first responders, from advanced equipment acquisition and updating aging vehicles to safety improvement and training programs.
