Congressman Nick Langworthy Is Delivering On Promises Made to Our Veterans

March 7, 2023

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy voted for common-sense bills that would improve the Department of Veterans Affairs in their reimbursement practices, medical facilities, and create a secure online space for Veterans to request copies of important VA documents.

“Our veterans deserve to have a government agency that creates a space where there is little to no hassle with simple requests like accessing copies of important records or getting reimbursed for needed medical services if done outside of the VA system,” Congressman Langworthy said. “This is the first round of common-sense veterans bills that I have proudly supported and voted for. We owe everything to our nation’s heroes and I will continue to have their sacrifices on the forefront of my mind when I make decisions in Washington.”

Background:

  • H.R. 502 - modifies the process for repaying service members and veterans who paid to keep benefits under the Montgomery GI bill, but later chose to utilize Post-9/11 GI bill benefits. For additional information courtesy of House Veterans' Affairs Committee, click here.
  • H.R. 815 - modifies the authority of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to reimburse veterans for emergency treatment received at a non-VA facility during the 60-day period after enrollment in the Veterans Community Care program, even if the veteran has not received an appointment for care at a VA facility. • H.R. 753 - directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to install and operate on-site regulated medical waste treatment systems at certain VA facilities. The qualifying VA facilities would be those that, after analysis, benefit from the cost savings associated with an on-site medical waste treatment system versus off-site under contract.
  • H.R. 1226 - requires the Department of Veterans Affairs to establish a secure website or online tool through which veterans can submit a request for a copy of their VA claims file (C-file).
