Congressman Nick Langworthy Calls on U.S. Postal Service to Provide Job Assurances and Adjust Public Meeting Time on Buffalo Mail Processing Facility Move
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy sent a letter to the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) regarding the proposed move of the Buffalo Processing and Distribution Center to Rochester. In the letter, Congressman Langworthy requests that USPS provide written assurances that the Western New Yorkers employed by the facility will retain their jobs and urges them to move the public meeting time to be more accessible for working individuals.
“The potential relocation of the Buffalo Processing and Distribution Center is a matter of significant concern for the hardworking families in Western New York, and they deserve to have their voices heard,” said Congressman Langworthy. “I strongly urge USPS to move their public meeting to a more accessible time outside of typical business hours to allow those with jobs to attend. A 7:00 PM meeting time would provide a fair opportunity for the community to actively participate in this important discussion, ensuring that the decision-making process is transparent and reflective of the needs of Western New Yorkers.”
This letter follows a meeting between Congressman Langworthy and officials at the U.S. Postal Service on Friday, January 19th, in which they discussed his concerns regarding the roughly 700 jobs at stake in this move.
