March 21, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) announced a federal grant of $ 2,342,048 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to Cattaraugus County for Head Start and Early Head Start projects.

“I’m proud to have championed and secured over $2.3 million for Head Start and Early Head Start projects in Cattaraugus County,” said Congressman Langworthy. “By investing in this program, we are providing families in the Southern Tier with access to resources that will ensure school readiness and a brighter future. This grant exemplifies our region’s commitment to fostering a community where every child's potential is nurtured and realized.”

According to HHS, Head Start preschool services work with children ages 3 to 5 and their families. Early Head Start services work with families that have children ages birth to 3, and many also serve expectant families. All Head Start programs continually work toward our mission for eligible children and families to receive high-quality services in safe and healthy settings that prepare children for school and life.
