Congressman Nick Langworthy Announces $379,000 from NeighborWorks America for Arbor Housing and Chautauqua Home Rehabilitation

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Nick Langworthy is proud to announce a federal grant from NeighborWorks America to Arbor Housing and Development in Corning and Chautauqua Home Rehabilitation and Improvement Corporation in the amount of $257,000 and $122,000 respectively. 

“I was proud to support and deliver grant awards from NeighborWorks America to the critical housing organizations in my district, Arbor Housing and Development and Chautauqua Home Rehabilitation and Improvement Corporation,” said Congressman Langworthy. “Affordable housing remains a huge hurdle for many that live in Western New York and the Southern Tier. I am excited to see these communities get the funding necessary to get some relief for those who are experiencing housing uncertainty.”

Arbor Housing and Development - $257,000

Arbor Housing and Development is a progressive, non-profit, 501(c)3 corporation, committed to building independence and creating housing options to underserved populations primarily in the Southern Tier of New York and North Central Pennsylvania. Created 51 years ago during the "war on poverty" as Steuben Churchpeople Against Poverty, the organization has grown from 8 part-time volunteers dedicated to self-help housing to 100 full-time employees. We offer residential behavioral health and domestic violence services that help people overcome challenges and go on to live safely on their own. Arbor Housing and Development's assistance for renters and home-buyers creates a pathway to the security and stability all people deserve. By developing, rehabilitating and managing quality residential sites, we empower people to live within their means in communities of their choice.

Chautauqua Home Rehabilitation and Improvement Center - $122,000

Since 1978, CHRIC has worked to improve Chautauqua County's homes, neighborhoods, communities, and the lives of its residents.  

NeighborWorks America is a public nonprofit organization, established by Congress in 1978 as the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation (Public Law 95-557). It supports and enhances a network of nearly 250 local and regional nonprofit partner NeighborWorks organizations that bring together residents, private-sector business leaders, and representatives of local government to create communities of opportunity. For nearly 45 years, NeighborWorks America has supported local solutions to community development and affordable housing challenges in urban, suburban and rural communities in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico by providing NeighborWorks organizations financial and grant support, training, technical assistance, organizational assessments, technology tools and other services.
