WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) is pleased to announce that the USDA Rural Development has approved a loan of $1,514,000 for the Town of Amity in Allegany County. This loan supports the construction of a new water district, a critical development that will significantly enhance the health, safety, and welfare of local residents.

"The creation of this new water district is a transformative project for Amity," said Congressman Langworthy. "This investment will ensure that hundreds of residents have access to safe and reliable water services. I'm proud to support initiatives that increase quality of life in the Southern Tier for generations to come.”

This loan, part of the Water and Waste Disposal Loans and Grant program, is financed at a 2.250% interest rate over a 38-year term. The total project cost is $1,519,500, with the Town of Amity contributing $5,500. The project will benefit 238 residents, reflecting our ongoing efforts to improve vital infrastructure in rural areas.

According to USDA, the Rural Development Water & Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program aims to provide funding for clean and reliable drinking water systems, sanitary sewage disposal, sanitary solid waste disposal, and stormwater drainage to households and businesses in eligible rural areas.
