Congressman Langworthy Statement Following the Resignation of U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Nick Langworthy issued the following statement regarding the resignation of U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle — this comes after Rep. Langworthy questioned her in yesterday’s House Oversight hearing and introduced a resolution calling for her termination.
“After yesterday’s hearing and my resolution calling for her firing, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned, but this is just the first step in addressing the serious failures within the U.S. Secret Service,” said Congressman Langworthy. “I look forward to a thorough and transparent investigation into the gross incompetence and massive failures on July 13 so that we can ensure a tragedy like this never happens again. It will take nothing less than full accountability to restore public trust in this agency.”
