Congressman Langworthy Introduces Legislation to Ensure No Americans Left Behind in Israel
Bill Redirects Funding from Illegal Immigrant Housing to Evacuate Americans Who Can’t Afford Commercial Flights Out of a War Zone
WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) introduced the Safe Way Home Act to redirect the millions of dollars the Biden Administration is using to house illegal immigrants in the United States and instead use those funds to evacuate American citizens from Israel safely.
"In the wake of the barbaric terrorist attacks in Israel, the United States must do everything we can to ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens in the region,” said Rep. Langworthy. “While the Biden Administration continues to spend millions to house illegal immigrants, they’ve left Americans in Israel to fend for themselves, only offering a loan for tickets on foreign airlines. The Safe Way Home Act will redirect resources from illegal immigrants to bring our own citizens home from conflict areas."
Specifically, the Safe Way Home Act will transfer funds from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Shelter and Services Program to fund a crisis evacuation program within the U.S. Department of State. These funds will allow the State Department to evacuate American citizens from conflict areas where their lives are at risk, including Israel and future emergencies.
Rep. Langworthy is joined by original cosponsors: Reps. Byron Donalds (FL-19), Elise Stefanik (NY-21), Claudia Tenney (NY-24), Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11), Randy Weber (TX-14), Greg Steube (FL-17), Kat Cammack (FL-03), Doug Lamborn (CO-05), and Troy Balderson (OH-12).
