Congressman Langworthy Hosts Swedish Ambassador Urban Ahlin on Tour of Chautauqua County
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Nick Langworthy hosted Swedish Ambassador to the United States, the Honorable Urban Ahlin, for an official visit to Chautauqua County. The trip included site visits highlighting Jamestown’s deep Swedish roots and honoring the strong cultural and diplomatic ties between Sweden and the United States.
“I was thrilled to welcome Swedish Ambassador Urban Ahlin to the 23rd Congressional District to witness firsthand the vibrant Swedish-American heritage that is deeply rooted in Chautauqua County,” said Congressman Nick Langworthy. “This historic occasion marked a rare and meaningful opportunity to host one of Sweden’s most respected diplomats and elected officials. Ambassador Ahlin’s visit allowed us to proudly showcase the lasting cultural, academic, and economic ties that bind our community to Sweden. It was a celebration of our shared history and a powerful affirmation of the strong partnerships we will continue to build for the future.”
The visit kicked off on Tuesday afternoon with a Welcome Ceremony in Jamestown, celebrating the region’s rich Swedish heritage and recognizing the enduring cultural and diplomatic ties between Sweden and the United States.

The visit continued with a tour of the Chautauqua Institution, a globally recognized center for lifelong learning, civil dialogue, and cultural enrichment. Sheriff Qauttrone arranged a Chautauqua Lake Tour to display Chautauqua Lake as a gem in the region.

The evening ended at the Vikings Lodge on beautiful Chautauqua Lake, where Congressman Langworthy and Ambassador Ahlin joined the Norden Club of Jamestown for dinner.

Wednesday’s itinerary showcased the region’s Swedish roots, vibrant cultural institutions, and strong business connections to Sweden:
Congressman Langworthy and Ambassador Ahlin tour the Roger Tory Peterson Institute grounds guided by Members of the RTPI Board of Directors.

Congressman Langworthy and Ambassador Ahlin visit Jamestown Community College, home to a unique and evolving Scandinavian Studies initiative.

Congressman Langworthy and Ambassador Ahlin visit SKF Aerospace, a division of Sweden’s SKF Group, a leader in the production of high-precision bearings for aerospace applications.

Congressman Langworthy and Ambassador Ahlin visit TitanX Engine Cooling, specializing in powertrain cooling solutions for commercial vehicles.

Congressman Langworthy and Ambassador Ahlin visit the historic First Lutheran Church, the oldest Swedish Lutheran congregation in Jamestown, founded in 1856.

Congressman Langworthy and Ambassador Ahlin visit Ecklof Bakery, one of the last remaining Swedish family-owned bakeries in the region.
