November 14, 2024

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) issued a statement after Electrovaya announced they’ve received a new $50.8 million loan from the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) to support equipment, engineering, and setup costs for a battery manufacturing facility in Jamestown, New York:

“I’m proud to welcome Electrovaya to Jamestown,” said Congressman Langworthy. “This major investment will bring over 250 good-paying jobs and establish our region as a leader in advanced manufacturing. This is a big win for our economy, and I’ll keep working to bring lasting growth and opportunity to Western New York and the Southern Tier."

According to Electrovaya, the facility will produce proprietary Infinity lithium-ion ceramic cells and is scheduled to begin commercial shipments in early 2026, creating over 250 jobs. The facility will also be powered by clean, renewable energy and aims to produce what the company describes as the longest-lasting and safest lithium-ion cells.
