Congressman Langworthy Announces Nearly $5 Million in Funding for Natural Gas Infrastructure Improvements in Woodhull

April 18, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) announced new federal funding for the Town of Woodhull for natural gas infrastructure and safety improvements, totaling $4,951,197.

“I’m proud to announce this significant $4.9 million investment to replace miles of Woodhull’s natural gas pipelines,” said Congressman Langworthy. “Recent federal reports have uncovered our state’s failing natural gas infrastructure, yet Governor Hochul and other leaders in our state choose to ignore that New Yorkers are at risk of losing access to reliable, affordable energy. This investment will ensure that Woodhull residents have the energy security they deserve, safeguarding their access to natural gas for generations to come.”

This grant is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure and Safety Modernization Grant Program and will go toward projects to replace 6.19 miles of pipeline.

Congressman Langworthy previously led a letter to Governor Hochul regarding a recent report issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) outlining New York’s failing natural gas pipelines and power grid, as well as solutions for improvement.
