Congressman Langworthy Announces More Than $5 Million for Head Start Programs in Steuben County
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) announced a new grant for Head Start and Early Head Start programs facilitated by Pro Action of Steuben and Yates, Inc., based in Bath, NY. This grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) totals $5,190,112.
“Head Start and Early Head Start programs give children from low-income families the critical early education and developmental support they need to thrive in school,” said Congressman Langworthy. “I’m thrilled to announce this significant $5 million investment in future generations of Steuben County. Investing in our youngest learners not only sets them up for success in school and beyond but also strengthens our communities and economy in the long run.”
According to HHS, Head Start programs support children's growth from birth to age 5 through services centered around early learning and development, health, and family well-being. Head Start staff actively engage parents, recognizing family participation throughout the program as key to strong child outcomes.
