September 26, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Langworthy (NY-23) announced that the Seneca Nation of Indians has been awarded $315,724 in federal funding from the Department of Justice’s Office for Victims of Crime (OVC). This funding will support critical services for victims of crime and address community-identified needs while reflecting the values and traditions of the Seneca Nation.

“This federal funding is a lifeline for victims of crime in the Seneca Nation, helping to ensure they receive the support, care, and justice they deserve,” said Congressman Langworthy. “Too often, tribal communities are left without the resources needed to protect their most vulnerable. I’m committed to ensuring that the Seneca Nation has the tools to uphold justice and strengthen their community.”

According to the Department of Justice, the Tribal Victim Services Set-Aside Formula Program is Congressionally authorized funding to improve victim services across Native American communities nationwide based on the unique needs identified by each tribe.
