Congressman Langworthy Announces the 2023 Congressional App Challenge Winner
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today,Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) announced the winner of the 2023 Congressional App Challenge, an initiative designed to encourage middle and high school students to learn to code and explore STEM learning through hands-on practice.
“I’m pleased to announce that 7th grader Zaria Minhas of Williamsville is the 2023 Congressional App Challenge winner for New York’s 23rdCongressional District,” said Congressman Nick Langworthy. “Her hard work and dedication exemplify the spirit of American innovation that will drive and shape our nation’s future. I look forward to seeing the continued success of our young coders and innovators in Western New York and the Southern Tier.”
Zaria, of Transit Middle School, has been invited to demonstrate her winning app, titled “Snake: Air Pollution,” at the annual #HouseOfCode festival on April 10-11, 2024, at the U.S. Capitol. According to the event’s organizers, the Internet Education Foundation, it’s the most prestigious demo exhibition in student STEM — the new national science fair. At #HouseOfCode, students get to see their apps displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building, meet their Representatives, and connect with other coders from around the country.
