Congressman Langworthy Announces $5.7 Million for Jamestown Airport Runway Rehabilitation and Safety Improvements

Washington, DC-- May 13, 2026…Congressman Nick Langworthy today announced that the Federal Aviation Administration has awarded $5,710,373 in federal funding to the County of Chautauqua for critical infrastructure improvements at Chautauqua County-Jamestown Airport.

The funding, awarded through the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP), will support the final phase of a major runway rehabilitation and modernization project at the airport.

The project includes rehabilitation of 4,075 feet of existing paved Runway 13/31 to maintain structural integrity, minimize foreign object debris, and extend the runway’s operational lifespan. The grant will also fund reconstruction of runway lighting and signage systems that have reached the end of their useful life.

“Maintaining safe and reliable infrastructure at our regional airports is critical to economic development, public safety, and connectivity across Western New York,” said Congressman Langworthy. “This $5.7 million investment ensures the Chautauqua County-Jamestown Airport can continue serving residents, businesses, and visitors safely and efficiently for years to come.”

Congressman Langworthy who chairs the Congressional Aviation Safety Caucus, emphasized the importance of investing in regional airports particularly in supporting business travel, emergency response operations, tourism, and economic growth.

“Regional airports like Jamestown play an important role in supporting local jobs and connecting our communities to broader economic opportunities,” he continued. “These upgrades will improve safety, modernize aging infrastructure, and help position the airport for long-term success.”

The grant was awarded under Fiscal Year 2026 Airport Improvement Program funding administered by the FAA.
